(H)Ola! Sometimes, I get confused between Spanish and Portuguese.

Hi, I'm from Brazil and really don't understand why people still confuse Portuguese with Spanish. Brazilian speaks Portuguese. Spanish is from Portugal and we don't like, most of people here prefer english. There are some of word similar but the pronunciantion is totally different. I don't know any friend that can speak spanish. rs My opinion is that most native Americans have more facilities to speak Spanish. Good luck! I don't understand the purpose of this question. Is it an invitation to praise the language? Instead, I'm going to give you an honest answer. Portuguese isn't a language that appeals to me. I learn Spanish and it seems to me that learning a closely related language might be too confusing. I don't need Portuguese for any practical purpose. I don't visit Portugal or Brazil and I don't know any Portuguese speakers. I don't have any aesthetic reasons for learning Portuguese. Sometimes a langauge sounds cool or has cool features that might make it interesting to learn. Actually, I don't like the sound of Portuguese. It was once described to me as sounding like a drunk Russian trying to speak Spanish. For me, Spanish is just a more useful, more attractive language and that's what I chose to learn. That's my opinion. I've been brutally honest because I think a lot of the time people here ask for opinion but only want to receive one side of the opinion spectrum.
