Subject-predicate sentences I ask you for help about Grammar in Chinese. Quote: In Chinese there is such a kind of sentence in with the predicate is a subject-predicate phrase. Examples: 1. 我身体不太好。 我 is subject of this sentence, 身体不太好 - predicate. 2. 明天天气很好。明天 is subject, 天气很好 - predicate. Why 身体 and 天气 are a part of predicate? I thought that 身体 is subject and 我 definitive (天气 - subject, 明天 - definitive).

1. 我身体不太好。我isn't the subject. 我(的)身体 is the subject of this sentence. 的,means of, is omitted here. 2. 明天天气很好。This sentence is the same. 明天(的)天气 is the subject.

when you translate 我身体不太好 into English, "My body is not well". "body" is the subject. "my" just clarifies whose body. 明天天气很好 tomorrow's weather is good. So the subject again is weather not tomorrow. Modern Chinese has the same grammatical structure as English from the SVO point of view.
