How are 最少 and 至少 different from one another? Hi, Here is a follow-up question to one of the questions I asked recently. I wanted to know how I should translate "I want to study [Putonghua] for at least another two years" into Chinese and was given the following translations: - 我想最少再学两年。 - 我想再学至少两年。 - 我打算最少再学习两年。 *It got me thinking, though... What is the difference between 最少 and 至少? Thanks.

In this sentence 至少 and 最少 are similar. But emphasis is different. 最少两年 emphasize the least ,the number 两年. 至少两年 emphasize extent or degree. 至少 is emphasized. Give anther instance, you try to get it. e.g. 在学生中,我犯的错误最少 ( adjective ) 失去了那么多,我们至少还有梦想 (adverbial)

if you want to say"at least",you can use both of them. if you want to say something is the fewest, you couldn't use “至少” in another word,“至少” only means "at least" “最少” means both "at least" and "the fewest"
