Can you please explain the use of 上 and 才到 in this sentance please? Please could you give me your translations of the follwing sentance and explain the use of 上 and 才到 they are the parts confusing me. 戴上你的帽子才到公园玩。 I know 戴 is the verb to wear, so im thinking 戴上 might translate as put on? If so do you 戴上 any item of clothing or is it only certain ones? As for 才到 this has beaten me and im not sure at all what it means. The best translation I could come up with for the sentance was, Put on your hat if you are going to the park to play. but im sure the 'if' is not right. Thanks in advance!I'd like to add, I dint write this sentance, its from a childs story book.

戴上你的帽子才到公园玩 戴=wear, 上=on, "戴上你的帽子" wearing your hat on (the head). 才=then, 到=arrive , "才到公园玩" then, go to play in the park. Chinese use arrive instead of go (assume that you reached the destination). You can also use go in this sentence, the meaning is the same.

戴上你的帽子才到公园玩 this sentence is better to say 戴上你的帽子才能到公园玩。 there are some common use in Chinese ,like take off your clothe( 脱下你的衣服,there should add 下after 脱),it express a state 。if you want to say a action ,it should be 戴帽子,for example : 他正在戴帽子 he is putting on his hat 。After he put the hat on his head ,you should say 他戴上了帽子。

戴,like wang's answer,戴上手表(手链,手铐,花,耳坠,项链,枷锁,领带,胸针等) If someone don't wear the hat,and you want him to do that, you should to say:戴上你的帽子,that's a kind of advice,or order. If someone wear the hat,you just express the state, you should to say:他戴着帽子. That's the difference with the use of "上" or not. As for"才到",your understanding is right.Congratulations!

for me my translation is that before u go to the park to play u must put on your hat."he word "上" in chinese have many meanings,i can use as a verd,a noun,an abj ...In this sentance it's as a preposition(in chinese calls 介词),it doesn't have real meaning, just use to stengten the verb before it.so 戴上=put on,穿上=wear,“上”means the beginning of an action。maybe u can find some difference between the 2 phrases 戴帽子 and 戴上帽子。戴帽子just an action but 戴上帽子have an imperative tone ,like as ask somebody to do something。才=then but in this sentence i think “再”is more perfect。

戴 =wear 戴上=put on 才=then 才到=才去=then go (here "到"not means "arrive" but "go") for example: 你要到哪里去?=你要去哪里?=where are you going to go? 戴上你的帽子才到公园玩。=put on your hat then go to the park to play. you can also say "Put on your hat if you are going to the park to play. " they are almost same meaning. hope it can help you
