I just started using the Genki book to learn Japanese, I'm on lesson 2 & can read and speak basic sentences.

If you take 20 hrs of lessons in 1 month on italki how much would you expect to improve. (please keep in mind I am either reviewing old material or studying new material on a daily basis)

In a year, you will be able to pass JLPT N4. But to speak every day conversation you need to have some language exchange partners with whom you can talk at least 3hours a week.

would you like to try my lesson? one of my student who is trying to study with me almost 20 hrs in one month. At the begging he could read only Hiragana and Katakana and few Kanjis. after 2 weeks now he is using Japanese dictionary. Now he can read Japanese song's lyrics with my little help. Of course it's up to you. In this case he is amazing. But If you want to try my lesson, you are welcome!
