"taste" is how you sense "flavour" (American spelling - flavor).
It is like how sight/seeing is how you sense light/color.
There are many flavours
- salty 🧂
- sour 🍋
- sweet 🧁🍬
- spicy 🌶
- meaty 🥩🍖
- fruity 🍊🥭🍓
- chocolaty 🍫
etc.
There is only 1 sense of "taste" per person. Everyone has different tastes in food. (taste can also mean preference, unrelated to food).
Taste is 1 of the main senses in humans.
human senses:
taste 👅
smell👃
touch👐
thermoreception 🥵🥶
hearing👂
sight👁

Good question! J. Ríos' answer above is excellent. To add to that, grammatically, "taste" is usually used as a verb, like the following examples:
- "This tastes great!"
- "Could you taste this for me, and tell me what you think?"
"Flavor," on the other hand, is more commonly used as a noun. So you could say things like:
- "This ice cream tastes familiar. What flavor is it?"
- "Do you taste herbs in this dish? I taste a definite herbal flavor."
Also note, "flavor" is American spelling (which both Mr.. J. Ríos and I use), while "flavour" is British/Commonwealth spelling. Hope that helps answer your question.

Taste has to do with if it is good/bad/bitter/sour etc, flavor has to do with the ingredients, lemon, caramel, cinnamon, raspberry, cherry, etc.
