The three completely different words "there," "their," and also "they're" are pronounced exactly the same way.
"There" refers to a place, or to existence.
"I love the local ice cream place. We go there every weekend."
"Honey, where is the hammer?" "It's over there, on the workbench."
"When can you get here?" "I'll be there in twenty minutes."
"There are seven colors in the spectrum."
"Is there a color in between red and yellow?" "Yes, orange."
"Their" always refers to ownership. It is a possessive pronoun.
"They all have their cameras with them."
"Far and few, far and few,
Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue,
And they went to sea in a Sieve."--a nonsense poem by Edward Lear
"They're" is a contraction of "they are" and simply means "they are."
"They're all in college."
"I see that they're dancing the waltz."
"The kids are excited because we're going on a trip tomorrow. I wonder if they're going to be able to sleep tonight."
Here's a challenge for you. This sentence uses all three words. Can you fill in each blank correctly, each with a different word?
"Th______ hanging up th_____ jackets on the pegs over th________."

I think 'there' refers to the location, whereas 'their' connotes ownership.
