Логичнее будет "я спросилА (у) мужа". Спросил - это мужчина говорит, какой такой у него муж может быть =)) До нас европейские тенденции однополых браков ещё не дошли. И, надеюсь, не дойдут. Нет разницы, ставить "у" или не ставить. Я спросила его (мужа), будет ли он сейчас завтракать. Я спросила у него (у мужа), будет ли он сейчас завтракать. Но обратите внимание - его/у него.

"спросил мужа" = "спросил у мужа" - и так, и так можно. "спросил маму", но "спросил (у кого?) у мамы" "я спросил У месяца", но "спросил месяц". "я спросил (у кого?) У месяца" Как еще объяснить, не знаю. Может быть кто-то знает ,как звучит точно правило.

sometimes... main difference is in the context (after following phrase "...") спросить у кого-л. что-л. ~ to ask smb about smth ... спросить кого-л. ~ to ask to smb ... you could put a preposition depending on the speech situation (i.e. an aim of a question or a literary trick, or maybe an order of sounding, etc.) ^^^
