How would you explain the difference between 'on my team' and 'in my team'?
I have always thought that preposition 'in' is used with the noun 'team'. However, I came across one video where, among everything, it was said "There were all guys on my team". It made me research on the topic, but I wasn't able to find the clear explanation. What I found out is that 'in my team' is typical for BrE, while 'on my team' is typical for AmE, as well as that 'on my team' is more natural expression for native speakers and therefore more commonly used. I am wondering if this is true? Also, I would appreciate if someone could explain to me better how to differentiate between the two.

I am a native English speaker from America, and I have never heard of someone saying "in my team" (you taught me something new! haha). I think what you have found is correct, that it's a British vs American English difference. I have only ever said "on my team" and I think it's one of those fun English quirks. My advice is if you're primarily speaking British English, keep saying "in my team" - I hope that helps!

I would have to agree with Lorena, "on my team" is something used in American English. You would never really hear someone say "in my team" in the states. So it could just be a dialect or cultural difference. Much like "color" in AE versus "colour" in BE.

Both are used in British English.  We say both 'on my team' and 'in my team', and I don't think that there's an obvious difference.

My advice would actually be the opposite of Lorena's. I think that you should use 'on my team', as that would be acceptable anywhere.
