It can sometimes. But as Gregory said, it has many other meanings. Because of the other meanings, I would not use it. If your sentence wasn't 100% clear, it could mean something else.
If you don't want to use "cheer me up" you could say "lifted my spirit" (make one feel more happy).
E.g. I saw some nice flowers and they lifted my spirits.

Be careful using the phrase "pick me up". If you use it as a noun as in, "I need a pick me up", or "let me give you a pick me up", then it means something to lift up your mood or make you feel better.
In this fashion, it can refer as well to alcohol or illegal drugs.
However, if you use the verb/phrase "pickup" it can have a sexual connotation. For example, many times young men say to each other, "let's go to the party and see if we can pick up any girls." This is a split infinitive verb as in "to pick up". The next day, the young men might be asked by their friends, "were you able to pick up any girls?"
It can also refer to a casual date or chance sexual encounter. Example: "I met him last night. He was just a pickup." Or, "I was never serious about her. She was only a pickup."
Another very vulgar example is sometimes prostitutes say to potential customers on the street or in a club, "hey, would you like to pick me up?"
Use caution with these phrases!

Vinh Tran is correct. The only thing that I would add is that we would say "a pick me up." Example - I am feeling quite down or sad... I need 'a pick me up.' This could be as simple as something like ordering food from your favorite restaurant or watching a movie that you enjoy.

Yes it can. The connotation is when you are down (literally or figuratively), you need someone to lift you up either in the physical sense or emotional sense. In Vietnam, we have a saying "lên" (to rise) to console those that are emotionally down.
