Would you provide examples of 부탁하다 in use?
I've seen it translated as "please" in some cases and "take care of" in others and "ask" or "ask for" in another case.
I can't tell by context when which definition will prevail.

Please take care of my child.
친구가 나한테 이거 너 주라고 부탁했어.
