The usage about “제외하다”
“몇몇 학생을 ( ) 모두 시험에 합격했다.”
(1)제외하고 (2)제외하면
“Except some of the students, everyone passed.
The answer is (1), but I wonder why I cannot use “면” (if) here.
I’m thinking the sentence “everyone passed” is correct only if the condition has excluded some failed students. What do you think?🙃🙃

The sentence that '몇몇 학생을 제외하고 모두 시험에 합격했다' shall be on a true fact. It means that '모두 시험에 합격했다' sounds like it's already happened. '제외하면' sounds like conditional sentence.
However actually, Korean people can use both ones as a same meaning, depends on situations.
