Further to previous answers, we as society judge others on appearances. "Clothes make the man" can mean what personal possession you have, how good looking you are, how much money you have etc. If you have none of these you are not worth listening to and are unimportant. interesting question coming from egypt, where women has to dress decently (as in any muslim countries,. I recently contacted an iranian woman who has a degree on islamic theology and she was telling me that qoran is full of silly precepts, specially related to women. I donot intend to disturb you, but her opinions are quite interesting to me, as she is an "alim" and could be ayatollah if man and orthodox. Anthropology shows that most of those people living without dresses - and that have been anhiliated during last times - used to be more human that the late dressed ones. So, answering your question, maybe dress "unmakes" the man/woman.
