What is the difference between "pourtant" and "cependant"?

Hi Tetiana! how are you! well, i'm gonna give you some examples so that you'll understand the difference between these Adverbs easily.
1----
pourtant

1. [malgré tout] yet, even so, all the same
*elle est pourtant bien gentille -----and yet she's very nice
*il faut pourtant bien que quelqu'un le fasse ----somebody has to do it all the same
*cette histoire est pourtant vraie ----and yet this story is true
*et pourtant ---and yet
*c'est une avenue résidentielle, et pourtant bruyante------ it's a residential street and yet it's still noisy
*et pourtant, toutes les conditions étaient réunies! -----and yet, all the conditions were right!
2. [emploi expressif]: c'est pourtant simple! -----but it's quite simple!
*ce n'est pourtant pas compliqué! -----it's not exactly complicated!
*il n'est pas bête, pourtant!------ he's not exactly stupid!
*je t'avais pourtant prévenu...! -----I did warn you...!
*ma montre ne s'est pourtant pas envolée! ------my watch didn't just vanish into thin air!
*c'est pourtant vrai qu'il est déjà midi! -----12 o'clock already!

*je suis d'accord avec vous, j'ai cependant une petite remarque à faire----- I agree with you, however I have one small comment to make
*il parle très bien, avec un léger accent cependant ------he speaks very well, but with a slight accent
and finally there's cependant que ----- while

Hello Tetiana,
Both are adverbs.
'pourtant'
means in English 'yet'. It could have also the sense of 'but'.
Il a raté son examen. Pourtant, il n'est pas bête.
He failed his exam, and yet he's not stupid.
mais pourtant
but nevertheless, but even so
c'est pourtant facile!
but it's easy!
"Cependant"
means 'nevertheless' or 'however'.
It could be a synonym of 'pourtant' , but means as well 'pendant ce temps' (during this time).
