What is the difference between 好き and 気に入る?
What is the difference between 好き and 気に入る?For example today I saw this sentence 食べ物は気に入りましたか?Did you like the food? Why does it not say something like 好きでしたか?
好き sounds like an ongoing feeling.
気に入る sounds like a single event.
At least that's my take on it.

日本の食事は気に入りましたか?(not the past)
have you like the meal of japan?
日本の食事は好きですか?(the present)
Do you like the meal of japan?
日本の食事はすきでしたか?(the past)
Did you like the meal of japan?

I think 気に入る is used when you find that you like something after you try/see/hear it for the first time (and when that feeling is going to stay).

suki is more like when you really "love" something or someone.
ki ni iru is to have interest in something, very slightly, or to like something or someone, but not so intensely as "suki"
