In Slovak, it's called "hruškovice" (hruška=pear). It's very delicious and has a strong pear flavour and aroma, which balances very well with the distilled spirit. All the (properly) distilled spirits have a warming feeling which starts at the tongue and goes through the whole body. You really should try it! Speaking a Slavic language feels just like that. ^^

Pear brandy is a nice smelling, sweet, rich, smooth and good tasting alcoholic drink (not harsh like other alcohol drinks). It feels good in one's mouth, i.e., on one's tongue. Some people would even say it has a soothing/calming effect. Apparently, the author thinks that the Slavic language also has these same qualities.

I think i understand this. it is a metaphore. he/she must like pear brandy a lot and associates it with slavic languages because in almost every slavic country you may find really good liquors. I like those liquors too, but try not to mix with any language. Yes, my best drinking experiences -and not talking about getting drunk, just opposite- have taken place in slavic countries. Pear brandy is ok cause has a point of sweetness and aroma really nice! But if you want to know, the best one for me is one that they make from wild berries in a southern region of former Yugoslavia. Since now, i havent experienced anything better - in relation with drinks - than having one (or two) of this and a turkish coffee in the morning in a kavana (cafeteria, balcanic style) facing the adriatic sea! (ummm, my mind starts to fly...i better stop here).
