I know 盖饭 means rice bowl like a dish with meat, veggies and rice but what does gai jie fan translate to?
I noticed that on the menu of this one Muslim noodle shop it read gai jie fan instead of just the common gai fan and was wondering if it means the same as gan fan or different? I was assuming gai jie fan just meant added rice. Like jidan gai jie fan...eggs with rice added. Can anyone confirm this for me...also what is the correct hanzi character for 盖 jie? 饭.
沙发,偶也!
Funny question!
Actually, Gaijiaofan and Gaifan both ok, and there is no difference.
As for the translation, Donburi, i guess. it 's a janpanese word, almost meaning rice topped with some meat or vegetables.

It should be gai jiao fan instead of gai jie
Gai fan and gai jiao fan are the same thing actually.
Jidan gai jiao fan is more like rice with eggs added on the top.
BTW there's really something as jidan gai jiao fan? Weird...
