Posso assicurarti che siamo lontani dal bersaglio. Disinvolto e` una possibilita`, ve ne sono altre, ma direi non una che comprenda tutte le (astratte) qualita` di /cool/, (tranne /fico/ che e` assolutamente gergale)! Ad una festa puoi dire ad un amico: -- cerca di essere un po piu` disinvolto, perche` sei cosi` impacciato? Su, non ci pensare, e` acqua pssata ...

I think smooth talker is someone who always know what to say, and what he says it's usually right even though the situation is not in his favor. I'd translate that with "persona suadente" but that's some complicated vocabulary. I'd rather use: "Lui ha la parola facile" -> (lit) "He's got the right word" -> "He's a smooth talker" "Ci sa fare" -> (lit) "He knows his stuff" -> "He's a smooth operator" which refers to someone who always knows how do handle any situation he's tackling. Example: "Wow, that John is a smooth operator, he got fired the other day and has applied for two job interviews already !" If a smooth talker is someone who tries (with a little guile) to mislead you into thinking that he's right I'd translate that with "persona melliflua".
