болеть is the first verb I have come across that seems to have two present tense conjugations. All translations for this verb (Google, Yandex, ChatGPT) use the following: я болею ты болеешь он/она болеет мы болеем вы болеете они болеете However, in a story I am reading, these are the forms used. я болю ты болишь он/она болит мы болим вы болите они болят Reverso is the only translator that shows BOTH conjugations. Is there some logic here or difference in meaning I am missing?

он/она болит они болят These forms mean "it hurts / they hurt" in relation with body parts: Мои ступни болят (ступни это они, female plural) = My feet hurt. Голова болит (голова это она, female singular) = My head hurts. «Ты болишь» (singular) или «вы болите» (plural) are possible as address in literature: You, my head, hurt. You, my fingers, hurt. Never seen in real life. Болеть это to be sick (or ill). Я болею = I am sick. Он/она болеет = He/she is sick. Они болеют = They are sick. Etc.

It's interesting that the first verb we also can translate like: I support my team. Я болею за свою команду.😄👨‍🎤⛹️‍♀️

The second part makes no sense. 1️⃣ Болеть - to be sick/ill. Present time: Я болею - I’m sick Ты болеешь - you’re sick Он/она болеет - he/she is sick Мы болеем - we are sick Вы/вы болеете - You (polite)/You all are sick Они болеют - they are sick 2️⃣ To indicate that some body part hurts/aches we use the word “болеть” in different conjugation as meaning “to be hurting” And in present time it has only 2 forms: singular — «болит» and plural — «болят» And you indicate a subject ( someone) in Genitive case who feels pain : У + Genitive Present time У меня болИТ зуб (singular) - my tooth hurts У бабушки болЯТ зубы (plural) - grandma's teeth hurt

Второй вариант имеет смысл только в вариантах он/она и они в отношении болящего органа или конечности тела: У меня болит голова. У него болят зубы. Кроме этого достаточно первой формы. Ты болеешь, я болею, мы болеем и так далее.
