Most names tend to be gender specific. Ross is Scottish and a boys name. There are a few names which sound the same, and can be for either Hilary and Kim. Robin for a boy and Robyn for a girl will still sound the same. I have only ever seen one female Darryl, although there is Darryl Hannah, the actress, but several males.
There are some new first names which would be difficult to guess. I would have thought Taylor would be a boy.
