Saying "until now" implies that you liked it until today, but that you don't like it anymore. Even though "to this day" seems like it means the same thing as "until now," it doesn't imply and ending. It implies that you liked in in the past and you still like it. Something that happens "until now" happened in the past and then stopped now.
