No. 10 Proposal I have written nine essays since I signed up on italki. I had never written so much in my life before this. Many language partner corrected my essays which I appreciate very much. I learned a lot from my language partners especially from David whom not only corrected my essay but also taught how to write. I want to repay their kindness. I have a proposal. When I write an essay I will write two version. One is written in English which is my target language. The other one is written in Chinese, my mother tongue. When my language partner reads my essay, he/she could do three things as follows. 1.Correct my essay as usual. 2.Translate my essay to Chinese which is his/her target language, then he/she could compare his/her translated version with my Chinese version. 3.Adapt my essay in English. So I could compare his/her English version with mine to find the difference. I could learn how a native speaker write. With comparing we can find the difference which is most difficult in learning a new language. We can discuss the difference when we have a conversation. I will do the exactly same thing if my language partner writes an essay in two languages. This work needs a lot of time. I think it is effective. So we could do these all or any part we like. This is my proposal. I start with this essay. 我的提议 自从我在italki注册以来，我已经写了九篇作文了。在此之前我从来没有写过这么多。很多语言伙伴改正了我的作文，我很感激他们。我在我的语言伙伴那里我学到了很多，尤其是David，他不仅批改我的作文，还教我如何写作。我想回报他们对我的好意，我提出一个建议。 当我写一篇作文的时候，我写两个版本。第一个用我要学习的英语来写，第二个用我的母语——中文来写。 当我的语言伙伴读我的作文的时候，他/她可以做三件事情。 1、像往常一样的批改我的作文。 2、把我的英语作文翻译成中文，然后对照我的中文版与他/她的翻译版。 3、用英语改写我的作文，这样我就能够对照我的英语版与他/她的英文版来需找区别。这样我就能够学习如何像一个native speaker一样的写作。 通过对比我们能够发现两个版本的不同之处，而这正是学习一种新语言最困难的地方。当我们能够交流时，我们就能够讨论这些区别。 如果我的语言伙伴用两种语言写了文章，那我也会做同样的事情。 这个工作很耗时间，我认为这会很有效。当然我们可以全做，也可以做自己喜欢的某些部分。 这就是我的提议。 就让我先从这篇作文开始。

No.9 Pride No.9 Pride Last year I lost 17 kgs weight and this made me so happy.I always flaunt it to my friends. I have nothing to be proud of before this. It's traditional for Chinese staying humble. I had been taught not to be arrogant since I was a baby child. They all said that being arrogant was wrong. But they never told me that pride does not equal haughtiness. If a person,like me,who is not proud of himself,he is unwilling to achieve any goal. That is so pity. Losing weight was a hard work. I run every other day,I was on diet,I refused to eat snack,I couldn’t have stood this if I didn’t want to flaunt myself to my friends. Now I think I can obtain any goal which the other people can get. This is the first time I know that I have the capability to get something which the other people think it is very difficult. Now I can do one-leg-squat which it is said that only 1% people can in the world . I am very glad that I am one of this one- percent- guy . I am proud to be this one-percent-guy. And surprisingly my friends like me much more than before they do . That is so great.

There is an essay of one of my language partners which shows us three kinds of partners who he had experienced. The first kind of person whose English is well just wants to practice English as much as possible and doesn’t repay the writer's kindness. The second kind of person whose English is not good is often frustrated therefore they are unwilling to meet as much as possible ,there is little chance for the writer to improve his Chinese. The third kind of person is a teacher who needs to be paid to have conversation. I left him a message telling him that I am the best language partner which he had never met before. There are four reasons for me to be a great language partner: The first one is that I appreciate my partner's kindness and try my best to repay him. I know our relationship works well only when we both benefit from our cooperation. I will feel guilty if I find myself take advantage from partners. I really care about partners. The second one is that I have plenty time. Recently I am learning English pretty hard so I will always be there when you want to have a conversation except from 11:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. (Beijing time )when I am sleeping. The third one is that I am a very patient person and I can speak Chinese as low as you need. I will try my best to explain Chinese to partners. It won't bother me if partners need me to repeat my word. The fourth and the most important one is my wife is learning English too. Actually she is better learner than me . She will be my substitute. My Essay No.7 How to learn a new language most efficient? Plenty of people on talki are learn a new language now.All of us want to learn it more efficiently.There are many kinds of learning theory show us that it is the most efficient when we are learning happily and relaxed. There is an example of mine in losing weight. Last year I lost 17 Kgs (about 34 lbs)from March to October. I was so happy when I achieved any bit improvement. The happiness encouraged me everyday. I obtained an unexpected achievement in the end. My BMI is 21 which please my wife very much. Then I decided to do some body building exercise such as squats,push ups,pull ups and etc.Now I can do one-leg-squat.My next mission which I am working on is one-arm-pull-up. Whenever and Wherever I try it as long as there is something above my head by which I could hold and pull me up. I am loving it. Only the fear of hurting my should can stop me.(Be careful with yourself,any pain shows that you have to stop right now.Do not push yourself too hard because it will hurt you. ) The key to learn something is you'd better find it interesting. My Essay No.6 OneNote Today I am trying to learn how to use a software OneNote, a product of Microsoft Corporation. I have to say I got have experienced a few problem. But I am still trying to learn about this software's features. I think this is very important for me to try something new. Before I wasn’t like this. I never upgrade my software because I didn’t like to learn how to use it. I always say it is Okay with me, I like the old one, only because I refuse to admit I am lazy or disabled weary at such thing. Now I want to change. I want to follow my friends, I want to upgrade with the time. The most Important thing is I don’t want to be a loser, I don’t want to cheat myself anymore. There is a word in Chinese "磨刀不误砍柴工" which means, it is necessary to sharpen your axe before you start to cut wood. Even sharpening your axe costs some time, it will make your work more efficent. Grinding a chopper will not hold up [delay] the work of cutting firewood. I found this translation in Bing dictionary. My essay No. 5. Magic mirror I have a magic mirror which always could please my four-month-old daughter . When my daughter cries, I take her to the mirror she will be very happy when she sees herself in this mirror.Everytime it works. I guess my daughter asks the magic mirror:'Who is the most adorable baby in the world?' 'You are,of course!' Every time the mirror answers like this. It is amazing. Or maybe I have a magic daughter which is even better. Lol

My essay No. 4 Great friends Great friends Recently I made some native English speaker friends who are learning Chinese . They impress me greatly. I have learned several important lessons in language learning from them. The most important thing I learned is to correct my pronunciation and tune. I learned this from Ryan who has learned Chinese for only one month. When I talk with Ryan I always forget he is a beginner because his tune and pronunciation is perfect. This inspired me. The most important thing when I have a conversation is that my tune should be recognized easily. That how how many phrases I know doesn't matter ,but how many phrases I can pronounce correctly does. This is the key for communicating. David,another friend,shocked me for knowing so many Chinese characters. He has learned Chinese for one year. Chinese character is very difficult because speaking and writing is totally different. Each character is a single picture which does not relat to its pronunciation. I can't imagine how hard he learn everyday. It is impressive. I tried my best to persuade David to start speaking Chinese with native speakers right now. If each word is a brick,he can build a tremendous palace now. This is my frankly advice,David,no offense. Such great friends. Ps: Could anybody tell me another expession for 'the most important thing',please. I feel I use this too much.
