20+ Years Experience | Certified ESL Specialist for Kids & Adults | Fun & Engaging Hello! My name is Charlaine, and I live in Ottawa, Canada. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fundamentals and Methodology of Education, two TESOL certifications, and a teacher aide certification. I am an active person who loves the outdoors, traveling, and learning about new cultures. Being a language learner myself and having studied Mandarin Chinese since 2003, I deeply understand the joys and challenges my students face. This perspective helps me be a more empathetic and effective teacher. I believe learning should be fun! With over 20 years of experience, I’ve taught diverse subjects to students of all ages and backgrounds. While I have specialized in teaching kids aged 4–15 in online classrooms for several years, I also really enjoy teaching adults and helping them improve their confidence, fluency, and vocabulary. My experience includes teaching ESL at a Canadian school board and a local college. I utilize a student-centered approach that encourages you to speak as much as possible. This allows me to tailor every lesson to your individual needs while you practice new skills. My goal is to help you grasp concepts quickly while building your confidence, fluency, and accuracy. Learning a new language opens so many doors, and I am excited to help you reach your full potential! I look forward to meeting you in the classroom!
