I've been taking lessons from Emi 先生 for a long time now and I can confidently say she has guided me and improved my Japanese as naturally and efficiently as possible! Emi 先生 is very adaptive and flexible to your needs and willing to curate a lesson designed for your lesson expectations. She's skilled in keeping the conversation going, as you'll always find topics to discuss. If you ever get stuck or need further explanation, Emi 先生 can explain in English (or Japanese - whichever suits you). Don't worry about making mistakes, you'll be having fun along the way!

I have taken lessons from Emi-sensei for around 2 months now, and I feel that she prioritises the depth and quality of the lesson over the progress which is why I feel her lessons are great, pairing up with light self studying. The nuggets of grammar knowledge that aren't in the textbook that she gives are useful and interesting. As a beginner, I am able to understand 100% of the lesson even though it is almost completely held in Japanese, which I find quite awesome as I was able to tune my brain to Japanese the whole time without feeling fatigued and confused. I hope to continue having lessons with Emi-Sensei and hopefully be able to have a small yet decent grasp of the language.

Great first lesson, I was a little nervous because I’m not very proficient at Japanese but Emi San was a great Sensei!!!

Emi Sensei is an excellent teacher! She is organized, patient and comes to every lesson with a cheerful/positive attitude. She has helped build my confidence in speaking Japanese. If there is an error, she allows me finish my thought/sentence before correcting me in a positive manner. She is also great at explaining the difference between textbook grammar structure vs. real-life spoken grammar structure. I highly recommend Emi Sensei.

It has been 10+ years since I went through Genki 1 and I was so nervous getting through my thoughts in Japanese but Emi sensei was very patient and encouraging despite me making lots of mistakes. You just power through them, learn from it, and don't be shy or get embarrassed (which I still am) with trying to form what sentences you can because you don't want that to hold you back either. Emi sensei makes cute handwritten feedback/notes for you to learn from too 😊.

SHES always sweet, answers my questions, and now assigns me homework that is very helpful.
