I am from the north of England but have been living in Italy for over 20 years. Today I live north of Rome in a small hill-top town. I previously spent six years working in Japan and before that two years in France. I am an extremely active person cycling kms up and down the Appenines, swimming lengths to refresh my mind and motorcycling around Europe on my 800cc Ducati. I think I am easy-going, sunny and friendly and get on with most people.
I am curious about life and our world – history, literature, film, world music, current affairs and politics, and have strong opinions on them all! When at home or on the train, etc my head is always in a book, listening to music or watching films..지도 경험
I have taught English as a foreign language for over 30 years in France, Spain, Japan and Italy. I have the TEFL certificate and the equivalent of DELTA which I received while working in Japan. Outside italki I teach privately and also at an Italian high school (liceo) in the language department. My speciality is tutoring students for international certificates such as IELTS, CAE and FCE. I especially love getting my students over the horrible hurdle of the writing test! Having said this, I also teach Business English having worked in tourism, film and retail outside of my teaching experience, and general English for travel and friendship.내 강의 및 지도 스타일
I have been teaching on italki now for over 2 years now and find it an efficient, relaxing and fun way of teaching. My lessons are always conducted in English (although if I know the students own language, I can help out when necessary). I have a wide variety of materials collected over many years, such as cool videos and audio material, interesting grammar exercises, etc but am happy to use the student's own material, if they wish. I have an open, friendly and conversational style of teaching and always aim to get my students talking and interacting with me from the very beginning. English language teacherI have been teaching online for quite a few years, even before the Covid pandemic, using Skype and today mostly Zoom. I have students living in distant cities in Italy and others from Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and the UK.
2020 - 2021
External English language teacherI taught English as a member of the language school team to students aged 13 to 19 as an external teacher, concentrating in particular on their speaking skills. Many lessons are conducted online due to the Covid pandemic using the Meet platform.
2020 - 2022
External English language teacherI am one of the teachers from the language department training the students for the B2 First certificate. I teach the students online and also in person, depending on the current Covid regulations.
1984 - 1990
English language teacherI taught English in Tokyo for various language schools on a contractual and also freelance basis.
1995 - 2022
English language teacherI have taught English individually and in groups – privately, for various companies and organisations and at Italian state schools from Elementary to High School. For several years I have been teaching online too. Since the Covid pandemic this has become my preferred method of teaching as it gives flexibility both to me and the students.

Jullia is an outstanding teacher, truly one of the few and far between that you can meet on iTalki! My English had been neglected and had lingered in a limbo state for years due to various reasons: laziness, boredom, and an inability to get along with a teacher. Jullia successfully eliminated all these problems and issues with her crafty and meticulous approach to teaching, ensuring the perfect balance between a relaxed lesson atmosphere and keeping it productive for both sides. I can summarize her way of tutoring as deeply personal and candid, utterly tailored to a student's needs. Jullia is a 100% active listener.
