Hi! I'm Richard, an English tutor and language learning enthusiast from Auckland, New Zealand.
Fluent in Spanish and exploring French, Japanese, and Mandarin, I bring diverse linguistic skills to my work as an Italki tutor.
I'm also a Yoga Teacher and Therapist, specialising in elderly care through group and private sessions.
Outside work, I enjoy nature, travel, photography, and music. I play guitar and sing when I can. My varied interests enrich my teaching approach and life experiences.
I love meeting new people and sharing cultural insights, blending my passion for languages and wellness in both personal and professional spheres.지도 경험
My English teaching journey began in 2008 with Colombian refugees in New Zealand, sparking my passion for languages and education. This led me to help migrants achieve English fluency and confidence.
As an educator, I create a supportive environment where students feel at ease making mistakes, but gently offering corrections when required. My approach emphasizes patience and personalization. I discover each student's interests, encouraging them to express themselves freely on topics they love. I love genuine conversation and connection with my students.

My teaching style is based on a conversational approach. I structure lessons around as much conversation as possible. I encourage students to relax and communicate without fear of mistakes, grammar rules, or accent concerns.
While I can set homework for reading, listening, and grammar study, our iTalki sessions focus on practicing conversation as much as possible. This method works well, and I'm passionate about sharing it with my students.
As a specialty I also offer help with job interview preparation and practice as well as Resume/CV revision and assistance. I've had great success getting my students into their dream jobs.내 수업 자료

I’ve been learning English with Richard for almost two years, and it’s been much more than lessons — it changed my relationship with the language.
When we started, I was scared to speak and obsessed with being “correct.” Richard helped me shift from fear of mistakes to speaking freely and adjusting as I go. Now I can self-correct calmly, without shame or feeling judged.
Richard’s background as a counsellor and yoga teacher shows up naturally in his teaching — grounded, steady support that quietly builds confidence over time. Two years ago I couldn’t imagine running a workshop in English with an English-speaking client. This year I did my first one.
What I love most is that we don’t study rules in a traditional way. We talk, read books, explore real topics — and confidence grows in small steps, through natural immersion. English stopped feeling like a test and became something I can truly make mine.
If you want to learn to speak with ease, not just “get it right,” Richard is rare.
