Hi there! ⭐
My name's Olivia and I am an English language teacher, Linguist, and artist currently living in Ottawa, Canada.
I graduated with a Bachelor's in Linguistics, as well as a CTESL, where I learned a ton about language acquisition, the history of languages, as well as language teaching! 📚
I love painting, sculpting, learning new language writing systems, as well as video games! (Any Nintendo fans out there?) I love all kinds of spicy food, and I mean it when I say spicy 🔥. I'll always chuckle at a corny dad joke but please, no puns 🙅♀️.지도 경험
As a teacher, I really work to ensure every individual student has their unique learning style met. I want to tailor what I teach, and how I teach, to meet your specific needs.
At both the Ottawa-Chinese Community Centre and the Ottawa-Carleton Schoolboard I created unique and fun learning materials, full of hand-drawn figures, that were interactive and fun for students to participate in. Generally, in both my everyday life and my teaching, I try to game-ify everything as much as possible. I think real learning happens when your focus is put on an engaging learning task.

I treat language learning the way I treat clothes; it's not one-size-fits-all. I tailor my teaching depending on what a student's goals are. This can mean many things for many students:
🌱If you're a new speaker and want more structured, grammar-focused lessons, I can do that! I will still make lessons as fun and engaging as possible through activities, with additional outside-of-class assignments such as homework.
🍀If you want to work on specific aspects of English such as pronunciation or grammar expansion I can help with that.
🌳If you're an advanced learner wanting to practice your conversation skills or essay writing, we can do that too!

Great lesson as always! Olivia is an amazing teacher, explains everything clearly, and prepares well for each lesson. The content, in each lesson, tackles one of my weaknesses in English pronunciation in a fun and interactive way. Olivia is super friendly, patient, and encouraging :)
