Hello! My name is Sofia, and I originally come from Thessaloniki, Greece! I am a Modern Foreign Languages Educator, a certified TESOL / TEFL teacher and a Translator, licensed by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.
I am a full time teacher of Greek and English, guiding both adults and children on their language journey with unwavering enthusiasm. My mission is to forge genuine connections with each of my students, creating an environment imbued with trust, encouragement, and mutual respect. I am deeply committed to recognising and nurturing each individual’s unique strengths, understanding their challenges, and adapting my approach to suit their personal learning styles.
I offer a tailored learning experience in which the lesson is a dynamic and interactive process. In my current teaching role, I am often asked to provide teaching programmes focused on Greece's culture, civilization, Ancient and Modern History, geography, customs, societal values and traditions. My lessons focus on: Reading Texts, Speaking/Listening Activities, Grammar, Play Roles, Assignments.
I believe education is not merely a transfer of knowledge but a vibrant, engaging, and interactive experience—a journey I am honoured to take with every student. With passion and dedication, I strive to ignite a love for language that will stay with them forever!

Lovely first lesson with Sofia today! Materials used in the lesson were sent in advance and the plan for the day was discussed at the beginning of the lesson. Everything was very organized and clear!

I have no doubts that Sofia is the best teacher here on italki. I'm also a teacher myself (music). She's very professional, and she knows how to teach the language extremely well. I wouldn't be at the level that I'm at (although I still have a lot of work to do!) if it weren't for her. Thankfully, I don't have to be in Greece to get better at Greek! Thanks Sofia! :-)

Sofia is a first class teacher. She starts by giving the student reassurance that success is ahead of them. She runs a very disciplined yet encouraging lesson every time. You will learn your fundamentals and your grammar as well as the joy of speaking with your friends on everyday subjects. I have been taking lessons from her for several months and I have been very happy with the progress. A simple moment of success was going to the airline counter as an American and speaking in Greek and being told how clear I spoke and what a great accent I have. So now I believe success is ahead of me as well.
