Hello, my name is Shimpei, a certified Japanese teacher based in Kyoto with 25 years of real business experience as a CEO.
I have taught hundreds of learners from complete beginners to business professionals and advanced learners. I help you understand both Japanese language and culture deeply, with support in English and Chinese when needed.
My lessons are tailored for learners who value steady, long-term progress. I focus on true understanding rather than memorization and adjust lessons based on your goals.

Shimpei-sensei is, by far, best Japanese teacher I have met in and outside iTalki. The method of his teaching perfectly suits my need and works best for me. He spent so much effort and time preparing the materials and the curriculum that is suitable for my style of learning. The explanation of the grammar, the examples given, the exercises and the role-play are not boring. Instead, they are engaging and would reinforce the knowledge you have acquired so far in his lessons. It worked for me that I became confident in speaking. You will not hesitate to make mistakes as Shimpei-sensei is patient and helps you correct both pronunciation and grammar after you have spoken by just giving a clue. Today marks my 59th lesson with him and I am not stopping. Will continue until Shimpei-sensei himself gives up on me.
