Hi everyone, nice to meet you! My name is Aya.
I’m a teacher who smiles and laughs a lot!
I believe that learning should be fun, especially for beginners.

I usually work for an online marketing company, but I also have experience supporting Japanese classes at a college in Brisbane, Australia. Aya is a great teacher. We start with free conversation that she is wonderful at facilitating. Whether I have a high-energy level or a low energy level, she is great at getting a conversation going. After this, we review an essay that I've written ahead of time. By having me write small essays before each class on different topics (that I get to pick) I get to work on different parts of my Japanese skills that often go neglected. In class I read what I've written out loud. Then we correct and refine what I've written. This often leads to really great opportunities to learn grammar and vocabulary, and to learn more natural phrasing. Then, after it's been refined, Aya will read it once through, and then have me shadow her. It's improved so many parts of my Japanese (production, pronunciation, reading/writing). She really is a fantastic instructor, and give me the perfect structure that I need, while being a lot of fun to talk with.

I really look forward to my classes with Aya sensei, I enjoy our chats together and she has a good sense of where my level is at and adjusts to my needs. She is also diligent about explaining things and making sure I have a proper understanding, and she also corrects my mistakes and offers solutions and more natural ways of speaking. I really recommend her as a teacher!

I studied Japanese a long time ago and wanted to study again before going on a trip to Japan. Aya-sensei prepared materials about common travel situations that we went over which were the perfect way to refresh my memory! She also created some examples sentences for situations that I specifically asked about. After conversation practice with Aya-sensei I'll be able to travel around Japan more confidently. Thank you!
