I was a college instructor in the Atlanta, Georgia area for nearly 30 years. I taught beginning, intermediate, and advanced level ASL courses as well as a variety of interpreting courses. I have also taught English to Deaf students as well as students who can hear. 내 강의 및 지도 스타일
I like to give sufficient background information to allow students to come to their own conclusions. When teaching sign vocabulary or language features, the method that I prefer is to teach only in the target language (ASL). I always reserve time at the end of lessons to clarify misunderstandings, answer questions, etc. in English.내 수업 자료

Bruce is an excellent teacher! He tailors each lesson to the student's skills and goals. Today we chatted for a few minutes (in ASL) and then we practiced expansion techniques. Bruce is always prepared with materials on the whiteboard, and he includes lots of examples for practice for each concept. He is very kind and encouraging, and he's good at explaining features of ASL that do not exist in English. I'm looking forward to our next lesson!

Bruce did a great job of quickly figuring out exactly the level I needed us to sign at and sticking with signing the entire time! I felt super confident signing with him but also stretched in my abilities just enough that I feel like I leveled up a ton during the lesson. Great teacher if you want someone who will challenge you but not intimidate you!

Today was really great practice at signing spontaneously and getting my thoughts across. Based on my profile pic on Zoom we got into a discussion of my volunteer position working with marine mammals. All very useful vocabulary for me and I never would’ve thought to bring this up as a topic of conversation, but I’m so glad that Bruce asked me about the image. Now I can describe something that I devote a lot of my time to.
