Prior to working with Ayumi, being new to Japanese, my fear was never finding an instructor patient or willing to maintain their support. Sometimes being a new student, you feel since the knowledge isn’t readily accessible, an instructor will lose their focus or momentum. Ayumi alleviates the stress with calm focus, honest real-time feedback, and lets you think before correcting mistakes. Each class is progressive. Meaning, each lesson relies on the information learned from the previous lecture. This methods works to develop your ability to speak and understand grammatically the “when-and-why” of the Japanese language. I highly recommend learning with Ayumi. Her kindness is sincere. And for me, the ability to nurture my progress without feeling isolated is important. Take the time to message her, schedule a package, and don’t be afraid to study. You’re learning a new language and it comes with challenges. For this reason, you should learn from the best.

Ayumi先生 is a great teacher — patient, professional, and thorough with her feedback. She provides class notes at the end of every session, along with a brief on what to expect next time, so you always know where you stand. After 10+ lessons with Ayumi-sensei, I wanted to share an updated review. I've been really enjoying our structured Marugoto A1 textbook lessons. The lessons are always well-prepared and Ayumi-sensei is friendly, calm and incredibly patient. I particularly appreciate the time and space she gives me to express myself. When I don’t understand something, she is happy to rephrase it in Japanese and only uses English when necessary. This approach is very helpful, as it encourages me to think and communicate in Japanese as much as possible, which has helped me improve my speaking confidence and ability. She also provides detailed notes and structured feedback after each lesson, giving me a clearer understanding of what we’ve covered and helping me identify areas for further improvement.
