Hallo/Hello/你們好/Dia Daoibh! and thank you for visiting my italki profile. I am Reuben, originally from Northern Ireland, now living in Hong Kong.
My love for language teaching stems from my personal linguistic adventure. Navigating the acquisition of German as a native English speaker has afforded me valuable insights into effective methods for English speakers aspiring to master German.
It has been a privilege to assist many students, initially unfamiliar with the German language, in achieving their linguistic objectives.
Please choose Zoom when booking lessons. Lessons finish 5 minutes shorter than stated (e.g. 1 hour = 55 mins) so I can start the next one on time.

As a language teacher, I have had the distinguished privilege of teaching in secondary schools and universities in several countries. My expertise lies in fostering students' oral proficiency, refining their academic writing, and guiding them through the intricacies of the IELTS and Goethe exams.
I aim for a friendly teaching approach, cultivating a comfortable environment in lessons while ensuring a thorough coverage of material, which means you can ask questions at anytime. Once I understand your unique learning style, I will work with you to help you reach your language goals.

I plan what we will cover in advance of each lesson. You may also make requests for what you would like to cover.
I use a range of textbooks, workbooks, websites, audio files, and my own handmade materials. You will not need to buy any materials to take lessons with me as I will share my screen for us to work on.
Please choose Zoom when booking lessons. Lessons finish 5 minutes shorter than stated to allow me to start the next on time. I wait for 10 minutes if there is no sign of you or any contact from you, I consider the lesson completed, i.e. no refund is given. Lessons can only be rescheduled more than 24 hours in advance. Fantastic! Reuben is everything instructor should be with a subject as complicated as German. After wasting a semester in a regular Uni course and spending much of the time confused and frustrated, he's managed in a few sessions to make all of the past tenses understandable and even fun (!). He uses a lot of mnemonic tricks to make the ideas and rule memorable. Patient, funny. I enjoy every session
