Hi! I am a certified 'English as a Second Language' teacher from Chicago, Illinois in the United States. I went to college in California for two years before switching careers to become an English teacher. I was certified by International TEFL Academy to teach English as a second language. I have spent 4 months teaching English as a second language at my local opportunity center. In my free time I like to paint, crochet, and knit. I am a native English speaker and I also speak Spanish. My video is also on YouTube from the channel Jacob ESL so that it can be translated to any language. I teach A1 Beginners through C1 advanced students. I offer 3 english classes. 1. Formal English Class: In my formal english class I teach a lesson and provide assignments, activities, and homework. 2. Informal English Class: In my informal english class we have casual conversations about anything that interests my students. We can also choose from a list of topics that I have prepared, or we can choose an article that interests the student. 3. Extra Help Class: In my extra help class I tutor students that need help with essays, books, or assignments they don’t understand. I work with my students to make sure they understand all of the material before the end of class when I teach at the opportunity center. One of the best English teachers that I've met! Jacob is a very kind, supportive and open-minded person, you feel comfortable talking to him. He asks quiestions, lets you speak, answers all your questions. Also his voice is really pleasant, which is great for this proffession I believe)

Jacob is my very first italki teacher and I still keep coming back to his lessons. With his soft manner and supportive approach, he helped me overcome the stress of 1-on-1 lessons, which was a completely new experience for me. He has a beautiful accent and a gentle voice, making everything easy to understand. Above all, Jacob impressed me as an open-minded and wise individual—we covered so many interesting topics during our lessons.
