I never learned a language in school, I learned on my feet. As a teacher I emphasise practicality and straightforwardness. As soon as you know three words, I’ll ask you to put them into a sentence. With me you won’t be ‘taught’ per se, you will be invited to learn by doing, to try things out, and to accumulate competence upon what you already know. My students quickly learn to ask me ‘can I say…? (voinks mä sanoa…?)’ followed by something they have just formulated. Before long, they start to create perfectly applicable and natural sounding Finnish sentences (which can often be short and make absolutely no sense when translated to English) by applying Finnish the same way Finns do. 내 강의 및 지도 스타일
It makes no difference to me if you know grammar, as long as you know how to apply it correctly in practice. I want you to be able to express yourself, and to understand what’s happening around you as you begin to navigate your life in Finnish. My students often come to me with their real life problems, such as reading the road signs, passing the Yki-test, communicating effectively at work or with their partner, buying salmon, asking for help/refusing to do something politely and so on. These problems and the application of language to confront them will serve as the foundation of our lessons together, just as they have for me personally and to countless other students of mine before you.5.0

I have taken online Finnish courses, and have independently studied alongside textbooks. After about three months worth of lessons with Jenni, I have improved my speaking and conversation skills way, way quicker than with those other methods. Having Jenni to practice uninterrupted conversation while getting real time feedback has felt like a cheat code for improving quickly. Our lessons have been so effective that they’d be worth every penny even at a higher price.

I highly recommend Jenni. She is a good teacher and gives examples so the language becomes easier to speak and understand. She also takes the time to explain the reasons why and how the proper conjugations and grammar are used.

My main task was to start speaking Finnish. I was so afraid to speak because of the language barrier and besides I had quite a narrow vocabulary. I was very nervous during my first lesson with Jenni, but she was super attentive, smiley, good-looking, smart and patient. Every lesson we touched different themes, so my vocabulary began to widen and my language barrier broke. I would like to mention that we had a very friendly vibe during our online sessions and I liked it a lot. No dominance, no pressure, no depreciation. Only respect, understanding and total support. I appreciate much how she was continuously trying to plant a seed of puhekieli in my head, because it is very important in everyday life. In the beginning I refused to pay attention to it, but then I got used to it. This soft transition was a surprise for me, but it's 100% Jenni's credit. Kiitos kovasti, Jenni!
