Originally from Nagoya, Japan, I have over 13 years of professional experience teaching Japanese in the UK, mainly in higher education. I've taught at UK universities and corporate online language training service providers across all levels — from complete beginners to advanced degree students. I've taught students with many different goals: travel, exams, university study, and personal interest. I teach with patience and genuine empathy, and my aim is always to build your confidence alongside your skills.
For over 10 years years, I also worked at a research institute specialising in Japanese arts and culture, where I organised public events and outreach activities. Through this work, I developed a deep interest in sharing Japanese culture with people from different backgrounds, something I enjoy bringing into my lessons as well.
I'm currently learning Mandarin Chinese myself, so I truly understand the challenges and rewards of language learning — and I bring that empathy into every lesson. I'd love to support you on your Japanese learning journey!
I specialise in beginner Japanese, focusing on building a solid grammar foundation and practical everyday conversation. I make grammar clear and manageable, without being overwhelming, always explaining the subtle nuances.
