I believe language learning is a journey. We'll do a lot of repetition and review to make sure you retain what you've learned and build a strong foundation. As a patient and caring teacher, I will take your needs into consideration when creating a lesson plan. My lessons are focused on "real-life" English, so we'll use materials such as articles, YouTube videos and podcasts. I love learning along with you, so I choose fun and informative topic to discuss.
I believe in a balance of "correct" English, and fluency. So, I will correct your mistakes, and encourage you to use new vocabulary and grammar. I'm a very organized person, so our lessons will be fun but structured. You'll receive detailed notes and clear homework assignments. I also believe "slow and steady wins the race." In other words, language learning is a journey, and not rushing it is important. With that in mind, we will do a lot of repetition and review. 😄내 수업 자료

Language TutorWorking with small groups, I facilitated conversations in English by teaching and modeling conversation techniques. I then supported the students with feedback on natural conversation and also gave grammar correction. Through this work, I learned to name and identify different conversation techniques and am able to teach students how to confidently have better English conversations.

Part-time InstructorI taught at Nagoya Women's University, which is run by Koshihara Educational Foundation. Through teaching basic English classes, I was able to learn how to teach beginning English using English and Japanese in the classroom. I can confidently explain grammar to someone of a beginner ability. I also learned how to adapt my lessons to any size of class, and continued to push myself to create new and fun lessons plans, with the student's needs in mind.
2018 - 2021
Part-time LecturerI taught beginning English classes. I was able to design my own curriculum for one department, and I taught a coordinated course in another department. I taught all my classes at Sugiyama Jogakuen University fully online in the 2020 academic year. Designing assignments for online lessons and teaching on Zoom pushed me to find creative ways to teach over the internet.

I started lessons with Jessica because I struggled with having longer conversations in English. Before my lessons, I could only give short, one-word answers, almost like a child, and it made me feel insecure. But thanks to her, I've become so much more confident.
