I was born and grew up in Quebec City, so my first language is French but I have been living in British Columbia, the most western Canadian province for about 25 years. I’m totally passionate about languages. I speak fluent French, English, and Spanish, and I’m currently studying Portuguese. I love to travel and spend time outside, garden, go on hikes, etc. I play soccer, badminton, tennis, ride my bike, swim, do yoga, and practice snowboarding, and cross-country skiing. I also love to read books and watch movies. I’m naturally curious and I embrace having the opportunity to meet people from all around the globe to share stories and cultures.지도 경험
I dedicate myself to teaching foreign languages for 5 years and I specialize in teaching Quebecer French on italki since 2019. I have a CELTA, a Certificate in Spanish language, and pursuing a Multidisciplinary degree in teaching a second language at Laval University. I also have lifelong experience studying second languages.
I have plenty of ideas and strategies in my sleeve. I’m creative, adaptable to different learning styles, and continually improve my teaching skills by studying new aspects of language. I believe that pronunciation plays a big part in intelligibility in communication and that frequent practice activates our procedural memory. I design my activities with that in mind.내 강의 및 지도 스타일
I offer 3 types of lessons: Beginners, intermediate, and conversation. I provide beginners with valuable material and guidance in recognizing and producing French phonemes (sounds), to memorizing practical vocabulary and basic grammar tenses. My intermediate classes are more personalized, depending on students’ aims. I offer reading and listening comprehension, as well as speaking and writing activities. I create my own material to introduce new Quebecois literature, music, and general culture. The conversation classes include test preparation and spontaneous or guided conversation with subjects or image descriptions. I make learning a fun and interactive experience.내 수업 자료

I have been working on my oral French with Laia for a couple of years. She tailors each lesson to my interests, and with her help, I have managed to keep my French alive better than at any other point in my life where I didn't live in a French community. She provides homework that is of interest to me and keeps me engaged.
Her training in language instruction and translation makes our lessons extremely valuable to me. They are certainly worth their price. When I have a week without a lesson, my brain actually feels it, and my French weakens.
On top of it all, Laia is relaxed and incredibly patient. I have a new baby, and sometimes he gets a little grumpy and I have to address the situation during class. She goes above and beyond in terms of professionalism, and we can even continue the conversation while mon petit chou is comforted.
Merci beaucoup pour tout, Laia! You're an amazing instructor, and I'm so so glad I found you here.

Mes leçons avec Laia sont toujours intéressantes, amusantes et utiles. Elle est vraiment exceptionnelle !
Quand j'ai commencé à suivre ses cours en 2020, j'avais un niveau B1 environ. Je faisais beaucoup d'erreurs de prononciation et j'avais souvent du mal à m'exprimer. Laia m'a toujours gentiment corrigée et m'a encouragée à continuer de pratiquer. Elle a beaucoup d'expérience, que ce soit de ses propres expériences d'apprentissage des langues ou de ses études supérieures en enseignement. De plus, c'est une personne au grand cœur : intelligente, patiente, et drôle.
Maintenant que j'ai un niveau plus avancé, on souvent passe des leçons à jaser, mais je continue d'apprendre d'elle chaque fois qu'on se parle.
