I am a French native teacher living in Tokyo. I have studied languages with different methods: in college (English), in full immersion (Spanish), in language schools (Japanese), and with online courses (Italian).
This is what I think:
👉 Learning random words doesn't work > Instead, learn sentences with key vocabulary using a topic that matters.
👉 I had strict teachers and it was so stressful, that I wanted to give up > Learning a language should be fun! If you are not having fun, the method is wrong.
👉 Without pronunciation teaching and speaking practice, you will never be able to speak naturally > Learning the pronunciation rules is crucial to speaking AND understanding French.지도 경험

I use a shared Google doc in which I take notes during the class and put the homework.
✍ Homework: Dialogues, audio, grammar/vocabulary exercises from textbook, and my own vlogs and podcast episodes+ other resources youtube videos, news...)

Highly recommended.
I felt comfortable speaking in french from day 1 with Carine. In fact, i hadn’t spoken in French with anyone before starting a month ago with her so really helped me get over that anxiety barrier.
Her teaching style is fantastic - she has been a language learner herself so she knows what problems learners face 1st hand + the fact that she has formal teaching experience is a great asset.
She has adapted well to my learning style and has a fantastic, structured, and intelligent teaching system as well.

I try to articulate in French and it can be hard for me, but she encourages me and corrects me along the way so I will learn how to form sentences better.

I am amazed at how much more comfortable I am at speaking French because Carine is so supportive and patient. I am also learning more advanced grammar and the homework she gives me is very challenging. We always review it together the next lesson.
