Yulia is a polymath who always has something fascinating to talk about. She can hold a conversation on birding, volleyball, Lepidoptery, cooking, ballet, DIY remodeling, ethics, economics, villages and peoples of the Russian Far East, literature, travel in Europe and Japan, hiking around Khabarovsk, and theater-going in Vladivostok. She can discourse on these things in Russian, Japanese, English, French, and Italian. I sometimes feel a bit boring talking to her but I never go away without learning something. She has many years of experience as a teacher, and a knack for steering the student away from prepared statements / phrases and into waters where they are forced to use language in a spontaneous manner- ie where learning happens. Plus, she is fun and easy to talk to. My Russian has progressed enormously under Yulia and I recommend her to students of any level.

This review is long over due, but I have been learning with Юлия for about 12 lessons or so, and she has been amazing every time. I always learn something new. I always leave each lesson feeling happy, and in a good mood, (even if I may have still struggled with the material). She is VERY patient, and tailors each lesson to focus on my weaknesses and strengthen information from previous sessions. I highly recommend her to anyone at any level! :)
