I've taken +300 lessons on iTalki and tried +25 different Vietnamese teachers (and tried the other Vietnamese sites) and Lynn is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I had struggled for months to make it past the beginner level of Vietnamese, but after 4 months of lessons with Lynn, I was able to have 1 hour conversations entirely in Vietnamese. Lynn uses several effective tools - systematic pronunciation practice of each sound, comprehensible input, grammar book practice, and conversational practice. After each lesson, Lynn sent a list and recording of all the words, grammar, and sentences that I didn't know during the lesson so I could practice afterwards (extremely important!). After 4 months with Lynn, my pronunciation was understandable, I could “hear” Vietnamese, and have entirely Vietnamese conversations. Lynn is also very fun and energetic and I never got bored after months of lessons with her. I wish I would have found Lynn sooner in my Vietnamese learning journey.

Thanks again for a new lesson conducted in a very professional and diligent manner. Lynn has been obliging and did not hesitate to use two manuals that I sent her and for which I had expressed a preference. Since I need to learn how to read, she provided me with recorded readings with which to train. Comme Mlle Lynn est également à l'aise en français, elle passe pour les explications à la langue la plus appropriée selon les circonstances. Les dialogues sont très vivants et agréables. Over 7 years, I’ve used Italki to take over 300+ lessons with over 50 teachers, studying 11 languages and Em Lynn is the easily the best teacher I have had. I hardly write reviews for teachers, but this time I must write a long one so I hope you’re ready! 1) Her language teaching methods are remarkable. It’s rare to see a teacher on Italki use only the target language ( Zero English). I often have to remind the teachers to stop using English, even if it’s one word, but since she teaches using the Natural Method, she knows exactly how teach in using only Vietnamese. Since she has studied 4 foreign languages herself, she knows exactly how to do this how. 2) She is the only teacher I’ve studied with who understand and incorporates the theory of Comprehensible Input (N+1) in her teaching. She is always aware of the words you have studied or have been exposed to and reintroduces them into to the lesson in a novel and challenging way that forces you to think a little harder to respond.
