I've taken lessons with Xavier for about a year. Prior to taking lessons with Xavier, I had basically zero French. After a year, I find myself able to follow along on French-language programming, and even found myself able to eavesdrop on a French conversation at a restaurant! It was incredible. I'm also an educator (and someone who's also been a language tutor), and I find Xavier to be super effective as an instructor. He tailors the lessons to my interest, and creates quizzes, flashcards, and summaries that I can review on my own time. He makes sure that all the resources are there, whether you learn best via conversation, reading, writing, or nerdy grammar explanations. He also has a running Google doc that you can access any time with records of what you covered in past lessons. The difference between Xavier and a casual instructor is the return on investment: I can see that I'm improving after each lesson.

Amazing! Having had classes with Xavier for exactly a year, I have to say it was a fully immersive experience in French language culture. I went from a beginner to being able to have a friendly chat with a French guy I met at a restaurant in this short time. This progress would be impossible without Xavier challenging learners from all levels to speak only French at every lesson. He would discuss with you for half an hour on a current subject about France or the news and allow you to deepen your skills quickly by discussing difficult topics. He would make you prepare speeches about articles for oral skills. Le professeur est merveilleux. Je suis super content de l'avoir trouvé pour améliorer ma compétence orale. Il trouve mes erreurs immédiatement et il donne les conseils nécessaires. L'ambiance pendant la séance est toujours très sympa et rigolote. Sa culture générale est excellente donc les séances sont très intéressantes. De plus, j'ai l'impression qu'il s'adapte très bien à mon niveau. Il essaie vraiment de me faire passer à un niveau supérieur. Donc, je le recommande vivement! :)

和Xavier夏老师上课总是不知不觉就到了时间，中年高压工作同时还要学门新语言的确比较困难，往往到了上课时间已经累的讲不动话了，不过夏老师很善于调动学生情绪投入对话，让我从一开始不知如何开口到现在进步到可以开始讲一点抽象的话题，很高兴这一年多的法语学习过程有夏老师的一路陪伴，也相信最终能取得好的成绩和实际用法语交谈的能力。

Lovely first lesson with Xavier... will definitely continue. He pushed me to speak as much as possible and that's what I want, because it's my (like most people's) biggest weakness.
