I have already taken a few lessons with Jannie and she has been very helpful in teaching me all the appropriate grammar and correct vocabulary characters to use in different context. Jannie is very patient and explains things very clearly whenever I have questions too!

I studied Mandarin every day for six months. Duolingo. One hour or more. Every single day. It was ok but not enough. So I found italki, and then Huang Laoshi. She is kind. She is patient. She smiles. She knows where I am in my learning and she meets me there. No wasted time. No wasted words. We work on real, practical things. The kinds of things a man actually needs when he is in a foreign country with his family and does not want to be lost. I am going to Taiwan soon. I am not nervous and that is because of Huang Laoshi.

I was quite worried about coming to study in Taiwan before I started my lessons but I feel much more confident now. Jannie is very patient, flexible and tailors lessons exactly to my needs and pace. It's challenging but doable. Highly recommended!
