certified teacher with 5 years of teaching experience I am an experienced language teacher who has a Bachelor's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and a Master's in TESL. I love meeting new people having genuine, interesting conversations. During my teaching practices in over 5 years, I have worked with students and colleagues from incredibly diverse ethnic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds. And as a successful L2 English learner myself, I am very emphatic toward other Chinese learners and linguistically informed about adult learners’ situations. Being a Chinese teacher, I have always believed in bringing the joy and knowledge of Chinese learning to multicultural communities and creating engaging, innovative, and student-centered classrooms. I also have a down-to-earth and compassionate personality that makes me an approachable instructor. I enjoy teaching and tapping into my knowledge and expertise to motivate students. I love incorporating communicative production activities in class. I don't believe in grammatical drills and vocab memorizations when it comes to language learning. I like to make my lesson fun and interactive where students get to make a lot of conversational output. I am open to teaching students of all ages!

Dee was great! We just started doing lessons together and she's been very helpful in getting the Mandarin flowing after taking a lot of time off from practice. She has a great lesson plan each time and is very patient guiding you to the correct words and phrases as you work through practice. Highly recommend taking lessons with Dee!

Dee is a phenomenal teacher! She was great at tailoring the materials to my needs. She also has a very casual teaching style that I loved because it fostered a great learning environment.
