In July the Student Union held an activity to visit a local farm named Guangming Farm. With increasing economic development, fewer and fewer students have a clear knowledge of how a farm works and do not even know the names of vegetables. This lack of knowledge is common. All students should know more about this, so that they can better appreciate the value of food. On that day at 7am. students met at the school gate, then they got on the bus [I don't know if this is what you meant, but the students had to get on something, unless you mean that they left]. After an hour, they ultimately arrived at the Guangming farm. The farm was very big and wide. The first things we saw were cabbages, then a field of carrots and so on. There was a sign with lots of information about the food, such as their names, growing stages and characteristics. What's more, we also saw them feed many chickens, ducks, cows, rabbits and so on. Lisa-one member of the Student Union said:" I have never seen so much food before, now I clearly understand how hard it is to get food. They showed us that they have to water the vegetables everyday, whether it is a hot day or a cold day. This visit was a success. Through this activity, students broadened their minds, so that they can better appreciate the value of food. Everyone should have a chance to visit local farms to learn more about all kinds of food.
