It is unquestionable that learning languages is an awesome source of knowledge in general terms. Based on this assumption it can be taken into consideration two approaches such as understanding other cultures and increasing job opportunities. Needless to say that both are excellent options, but there is a need to clarify which one is more relevant. It used to be the idea that learning languages was limited to those who were related with scientists, researches, interpreters and people in the knowledge’s field. However, many intrigued minds are devoted to investigate about the historical events in other countries and their inhabitants. English language is appreciated not only for being one of the most spoken languages, but also for its music, their culture and the cultural events that fuelled England to have the importance it has currently. It is certainly true that the youngest are more interested in improving their professional skills in order to increase their job opportunities. Business and social medial jobs are demanding personal with extraordinary qualifications in languages, what it makes students and professionals to opt for this path. In addition, a recent study has shown that the number of unemployed people who is only able to speak their mother tongue, have less chance to get a job in comparison to those how are capable of command two or more languages. On account of this, both factors may be beneficious for the actual society. Notwithstanding, it seems that the option of increasing job opportunities, especially in times of the pandemic caused by the virus Covid-19, is the most valued one with the aim to evolve and such hard times.

Let me write your essay in a clearer, simpler but hopefully more effective way. One reason for studying foreign languages is to obtain a greater insight into the cultural side of other countries, while another is to improve employment prospects. I believe that in these times it is most important to learn a language for career purposes. Rather than studying for cultural purposes, language learning used to be the preserve of scientists, researchers, interpreters and people who were simply seeking knowledge. However, nowadays more private individuals are interested in finding out about foreign countries and their historical events. The English language is one of the most widely spoken in the world and England itself is appreciated for its music and culture which led it to its position in the modern world. Another reason for learning foreign languages, particularly for young people, is that they are increasingly useful when applying for jobs. Businesses, including social media companies, require personel who can communicate in a range of languages. Indeed, a recent study has shown that those people who can only speak their mother tongues are more likely to be unemployed. In conclusion, while learning one or more foreign languages is beneficial to society for both cultural and employment reasons, I believe the latter, especially in these days of Covid-19, is more important. The question is, does this fully answer the question?

I assume this is an IELTS essay and the question is something like: Some people feel that main reason to learn languages is to understand the cultures of other countries, whereas others believe that the fact it will lead to greater job opportunities is more important. Discuss both sides and give your opinion. Your ideas seem to be: Opinion - job opportunities are more important Introduction - Reword the question. Which is more important? Body Para 1 - Language learning used to be limited (is this relevant?). More people now are interested in the history of other countries. Example - English and England. Body Para 2 - Young people want more skills (is this relevant?). Businesses and social media want people with language skills. Unemployed people tend to only speak their own language. Conclusion - State opinion, Covid 19. Now, consider what of this is relevant? How can you explain and support your ideas? It is best to include your opinion in the introduction. One of the marking criteria is 'maintains a consistent position throughout'. Clearly in a discuss both sides essay you need to do that, but it still helps to say what you believe at the start.
