Question : Difference between "seldom" and "hardly" Are the two words interchangeable? 1. I seldom use textbooks to learn English. 2. I hardly use textbooks to learn English. Are these sentences both correct? (Actually those two sentences are not true, I really rely on textbooks...^^;)

(So the first sentence is correct and the second should use “hardly ever”.)

Seldom is interchangeable with rarely and are used to indicate low frequency.

You can use “hardly ever” as a synonym for “seldom“. “Hardly” by itself is more like “not very”, (“I was hardly surprised when I failed the test.”) or “really don’t” (“I hardly think so.”).
