One ticket to childhood, please!" by Nguyễn Nhật Ánh, translated by myself The story, which I was going to tell, unluckily also related to the married life. But in suffering there was also luck, it was only a game - the husband and wife game, which all the children at my age used to play. However when they grew up, they better stayed away. Little bad teeth Tí sún, who lived next to my house, and I were a couple. I was the husband, Tí sún was the wife. Tí sún was far away from being pretty, she had dark skin and curling hair from running all the day outside under the sun. What was worse are the bad tooth. I was ready to accept her as my wife on the sole reason: she liked me, so she obediently carried out all of my orders. Honestly I prefered silly Tủn, the prettiest girl in the village, who also had dimples. However I didn't marry her, because she always hung out with skinny Hải cò. Later on I understood I was feeling jealous, of course in a childish way. But at that time I recognised it as an uncomfortable feeling. Therefore I suddenly married Tí sún, as the grown-ups used to say: "Better marry the one, who loves you than the one, whom you love." Especially when this person seemed to be interested in everyone but not you. Five minutes after our marriage we got immediately two children : Hải cò and Tủn. I forced them to be my children, though Hải cò was one year older than I, just because I couldn't abide them.
