I watched the Olympics a little bit while I was home for lunch. I was very lucky
to see the live broadcast of the men’s snowboard Slopestyle, (men’s) snowboard halfpipe, and (men’s) figure skating events. The first one was really entertaining and exciting.
The 17-year-old Chinese snowboarder Su Yiming won a silver medal (in this event).
All I could see was that he dashed up and down the slope, rotating, spinning,
and flipping in the air. He is also a former child actor, and I saw his
movie seven years ago. It was set in the northernmost area of China, and he played a
child who skied in snow-covered woods with soldiers. Who would have thought
that this cute little boy would become the first Chinese athlete to win a gold medal [or - to take first place] in this event? Also, I watched men’s figure skating live. Although
our Chinese skater didn’t win a medal, I was drawn to the performance of every
athlete. The final skater (to perform) was Nathan Chen, an American skater. He
delivered a flawless show and became the champion.
