Today, we went to the pool. I can't swim yet but I could hold my breath for over 1 minute. It was not a long time but that was my great effort. Thank you!

Today, we went to the pool. I can't swim yet but I can hold my breath for over a minute. It is not a long time but it takes a great deal of effort for me to do so. Thank you!
"we went to the pool" (It might be better to be more specific about who the "we" you are referring to is, your family? friends?)
